No Keepers, Last Pick = Shooter Cup (2012 Edition)

Each year we take a look back at and analyze what would happen if you had no keepers and the last pick of each round. Could you assemble a team strong enough to win the Shooter Cup?

In the 2010 Hindsight Warriors article, our Commissioner constructed a Shooter Cup winning team out of players selected in the draft (with only the last pick every round) or non-drafted waiver pick-ups.
Last year, we did it again, and even increased the winning team’s Rotos to 110!  2011 Hindsight Warriors article.

Let’s take a look back at the 2012 Fantasy Baseball season and do it again, and see if we can build a team to defeat the Pickering Dynasty’s 2012 Shooter Cup winning team.

The biggest surprise in Fantasy Baseball last year? Unquestionably, it’s R.A. Dickey. This waiver wire gem from last year will anchor our pitching staff.
On the hitting side, there were huge breakouts by E-squared and Headley that build the base of our infield.

Here is how the rest of team looks like.

In summary, any team can win the Shooter Cup this year! Even those that have rebuilt and are down to 4 or 5 keepers. Keepers are great for building the foundation of your team for the year, but your draft and post-draft success (and some luck of course) are equally important. This is something for us to keep in mind as we all prepare for the 2013 Draft, now just 5 days away!

5 days until I can forget about 2012!

I would like to point out that I drafted so well that two of those players are keepers for me this year! Of course that also speaks to the weak ass team I had going into the draft…..
