2004 – Muff Divers*

NORTH YORK MUFF DIVERS* SHOOTER CUP CHAMPIONS

Heading into the 2004 season Jason Gaudette knew he had an offensive juggernaut. What he needed was some sleeper pitching in order to contend. Jake Peavy fit that bill perfectly as he joined a Muff Diver pitching staff anchored by team Cy Young winner Jason Schmidt to form a devastating one/two combo. Team MVP Adrian Beltre led an offence that notched an incredible 51 roto points.

Unlike previous years, the 2004 pennant race was a tight one. Both the Poo Dogs (second place) and the Gaping Gash (third place) were in the hunt until the last week of the season. Muff Diver Owner Jason Gaudette did whatever it took to ensure his team’s success. Big names like Tejada, Abreu and Sosa were all dealt during the season in order to strengthen the team. In the end the Muff Divers found themselves on top with 97 Roto points and a 4 point victory.

“Nothing beats the feeling when you raise the Shooter Cup for the first time.” Gaudette said at the Year end Party. “This trophy and this league are the greatest of all time”
