Now that the 2012 OBFBL Keepers are in, let’s take a look already at who was kept, who was not kept and what the 2012 OBFBL draft might look like.

To complete this analysis, the following steps were done:
– take a view of 4 overall player rankings for 2012 (ESPN.com, RotoChamp.com, RotoSummit.com, BleacherGM.com)
– build a composite average ranking and then an overall ranking
– overlay the 2011 OBFBL Keepers and highlight who is available in the draft

These are very early rankings and things will change drastically between now and the OBFBL 2012 draft, but it’s fun to think about things early.  Especially as we now kick off the OBFBL off-season and the inevitable Trading Frenzy.

FUN stats about the OBFBL keepers

– The top ranked player in baseball is now Ryan Braun who has usurped Albert Pujols for the top spot. Miguel Cabrera is #3, followed by Matt Kemp and Troy Tulowitzki

– The top ranked pitchers are: Roy Halladay at #12, Justin Verlander at #14, Clayton Kershaw at #17 and Cliff Lee at #20. The Aurora Asshats have 2 of those 4 (Verlander/Lee)

– There is great balance overall for who owns the top ranked players, although the Pickering Dynasty have 2 of the top 3, and Brooklin Legacy have 3 of the top 12

– Each of the 12 OBFBL teams has a player ranked in the top 25 overall

– The lowest ranked keeper is Shelby Miller (not in the top 326) who was chosen by the Motorboats as their 8th keeper and is a definite flier. After all, who else should they have chosen? Adam Dunn?

NOTE: Stay tuned for a separate article later on the OBFBL Team Keeper rankings

THROWBACKS:

– An incredible 7 of the top 11 ranked players not kept were throw-backs from the Dick Dogs. No wonder they cruised to the 2011 Shooter Cup!

– The 2nd place finishing Super Sods threw back 2 of the top 5 available players, while the 3rd place Crackheads threw back 5 of the top 15 available players

NOW…. on to the first OBFBL MOCK DRAFT for 2012
(the order is solely based on the composite 2012 rankings and the current OBFBL draft order, and does not take into account actual team needs (positional/category) or their intentions or strategy for the 2012 season – Check out the full data in the RANKING SPREADSHEET)

Brampton Blue Balls Logo Reveal

Posted: December 4, 2011 in League News

The second franchise to get it’s new logo is the Brampton Blue Balls.  Owner Ryan Main is currently in Costa Rica but approved the new look.  In fact his response via email was “Awesome!  Let’s make it scratch and sniff!”

The same agency that created the Mortorboat Logo earlier this week was hard at work designing this masterpiece.  The Logo takes a direct and erect approach to “Blue Balls” name while staying baseball focused. It will immediately become a fan favourite.
Now that the logos have been created, we can get busy creating the team pages.  Look for those in the coming weeks!

Toronto Motorboats Logo Reveal

Posted: December 4, 2011 in League News

After one full season the Toronto Motorboats and owner Kim Ferreira finally have an amazing logo to compliment the franchises bright future.

The logo was designed by a Brooklin design agency and pulls in all of the elements that make the Motorboats….well the Motorboats. Massive titty mountains, electrifying surf and fast machinery are complimented by the classic split font made famous by another Toronto franchise that had a similarly epic logo reveal in the last month.

Ferreira sent the following statement via drunk text late last night “Our new mark gives us the strong and sexy identity that will propel us to greatness in the OBFBL”

The logo will appear on team Hats, Jerseys and full accessory line which includes jock straps, thongs and knee high socks.

Next up will be the logo release for the Brampton Blue Balls. Look for something later this week when Owner Ryan Main returns from Costa Rica.

OBFBL Record Book’s New Look

Posted: October 19, 2011 in League News

The First section to be redesigned are the Season and Career Record Books. Not only do they look great, they are also updated with 2011 data. How many Records does your Franchise own?  Find out here:

I’m currently working on “Badges” for money milestones (1K, 2K), and some of the other cool things we track, but are not necessarily Statistical Records.  Such as Money Winnings, Average League Standing, Average Roto Point Total, Most Consecutive years in the Money, Participation Score, Number of moves, etc.
